Thankz I installed kali on my laptop after all managed to do some wep's.
Using it some time since it's not so hard on resources.
Also 'am considering Knopix, not live DVD, but installed version since there are some howto's on installing it permanently without bootable only...
    thankz for inputs.

I`m using Linux Mint for about half a year. I can say that i don`t miss Windows. Very good support and worth to try it.

yes, that`s no problem. Just download Linux Mint, burn it on CD/DVD or on a USB-Stick and follow the instruction in the installation-menu. Read Carefully!

I'd recommend you to use nvidia-prime instead.
To work with office use intel - battery saving
To use hardware accelerated video use nvidia - increase performance.

I don't think you can do that switching on the fly though - the nvidia will always run in the background consuming a certain amount of power.

I really regret buying an optimus laptop.

    Very good operating system.

First thing to install is Ubuntu Restricted Extras. Then it depends what you use your computer for.
